It's a funny place

I've been a member of this site for quite a while, and over the months, one thing has always struck me, should any Psychologist become a member and read some of the stuff that gets posted in rooms or bulletin boards he would think he has struck gold! There is so much going on here, the jealousies, the strange virtual-friendships, the bitter battles, the desperation of so many for so much, and thats before you consider the huge spectrum of tastes catered for!
I have seen so many instances of where the border between the 'real world' and cyberspace has become blurred it amazes me, where members react to others and to situations as though it was real life, whereas the truth is that the vast majority of people here live behind a false persona, and would never in a million years behave in such a way in the real world.
The whole point of this site, as I see it, is theoretically to meet like-minded people, however the reality is that it allows so many to live out there desires without fear of any come-back, that the limits imposed on them in the real world are no longer there.

I agree cyber, I've been a member for nearly 2 years and I only joined out of curiosity. I never thought I'd still be here, but this site is strangely addictive wouldn't you say?

Today I resigned the post of Mod and as a member of a room that I had been a member of since just about day one. Why? Many reasons I guess, but at the root of it was silly attempts to curry favour with the 'owner' of the room. I had enough of the one person being the centre of attention when the room had so many other really nice people that deserved to be esteemed in their own right. obviously when a woman creates a room human nature dictates that the guys will try to achieve some kind of favoured status. And that I could accept and understand, but the amount of 'status' enjoyed by the chosen few has to have been out of all proportion. There were times when I witnessed behaviour by grown people that would have been better suited to the school playground, the stomping off in huffs, the snide remarks behind members backs as they exited the room. The amount of 'you're my best friend' comments was becoming quite amusing. You may think I write out of some kind of bitterness, however you could not be more wrong, I was deeply sorry to have to leave, but it was the only choice I had. The ability to remember that none of this is real was starting to blur for me, I found myself worrying about the issues far too much. In stepping back I found that once again I could recall that these were real people, and that outside of this site when I talk to them I find that I truly treat them as friends. But inside the room so much lip-service is paid to the spirit of friendship that it is hard to know where an honest declaration of friendship begins or the search for a cyber-partner ends. I thought that some who called me friend meant it in the way I assumed it to be, but, it seems despite my cynicism, I was wrong. The allure of this fantasy world soon clouds the memory of those remain behind. However, I remain an active member of the Piddling Pool and ParkPees, so, maybe if you are feeling in the mood you might like to pop along and say hi if I'm there.

Well said cyber. I still have problems getting my head around the jealousies and the very strange and absured brown nosing that goes on in some places. Cyber-space is where real people can be the person they long to be but its not real. If people are the type that get jealous easily or the type that wants all the attention then maybe they shouldn't be here because it spoils the virtual reality (or fun) of many others. I have met many on the site that I like but, keeping my feet on the ground, only 2 who I call friends and both of those have there feet firmly planted in the real world and remember what sex in these rooms is all about.... fantasy.
