Migration
Migration I feel like Elrond in The Lord of the Rings trilogy announcing the end of the elves in Middle Earth. I am moving again. More accurately, this blog is moving. I move onward with mixed feelings and melancholy but just like the elves, I realize my time here is up, or perhaps like them, I realize I was never really meant to be in this place. I will leave many friends behind. But unlike the elves, my new spot is open to visitors from the old realm. With all the other frustrations in my life in the past year, as blogging became another one of them, I realized it was the one that I control the most. In groups and various postings, I heard folks ask for a variety of freedoms and tools. I wondered if these were truly available outside these walls. And I discovered they were. So, goodbye to slow servers and refresh rates. Goodbye to pages that just hang in my browser. Goodbye to blog posts that won’t stick, or instead turn up multiple times. Goodbye to missing comments or comments that can’t be seen. Goodbye to the inconsistent censorbot. Goodbye to the blogjams and not being seen on the main blogboard half the time. Goodbye to the blogboard flooders, the comment whores, the popularity contests, and the influx of new folks who are more interested in backbiting and creating exclusive cliques. Goodbye to feeling like I’m blogging in a beta test zone. Goodbye to the secrecy of the powerful here who will not share why and how this place runs the way it does. Goodbye to a community that has changed; changed into one where free speech is no longer really honored. If you look outside these walls, you can find a revised version of this blog already building. Look for a similar title and handle. Or you can drop me a line and I’ll let you know where you can find me. Like the elves, I leave after being transformed. And I leave some magic behind for the inquisitive. The journey goes on.... |

I understand more after reading this post, Rock. Sorry to see you leaving. I suppose you have continued to be frustrated. Have you made an attempt to contact Ali Rhaman, the Director of Customer Service? He's a good man. He's the guy who finally helped us with the abuse and harassment from 'Sabre' and got PK, me and others reinstated. Perhap, you have continued to see these and other problems. Good luck if you do ultimately move on!

Thanks RPR... sorry that you didn't find our humble spot earlier. What is in the blog now is here to stay.... So may I direct you to our index for some browsing? Too bad you didn't venture into this realm until after we cleaned out some of the older posts. And so it goes....
