Back From The South ...What A Trip

I am back....as most of you know I go down south every yer to help and elderly couple open their home in the Bahamas..I have been doing it for 4 years now and I got back on Feb 9 and like every year I learn something new and this year was no different...We drove to Portland on Jan 30 spent the night and caught the ealry flight to Charlotte ,NC then on to Fort Lauderdale then to Treasure Cay to catch the 3:30 ferry to the island simple right ...NOT...as we are appraoching Charlotte the pilot comes on and states that we have to stay in the air for a bit longer for vice president Cheney is landing and they put a stop to all flights in and out till he is landed which puts us ithe air for additional 15-20...we are not going to make our connecting flight to Lauderdale so they re-route us to Nassau and we go with Bahamas Air...so we get to the other airport in Nassau at 3:30 in the afternoon ..we are early so we grab a beer and relax then they tell us that our airplane has mechanical faliure so they try to get another plane in ...4 hours and 3 planes later we are off the ground and flying to Marsh Harbour for they don't fly in after dark in Treasure Cay then we have to take a taxi which is a 45 minute drive to the ferry where if they flew into Treasure Cay the taxi ride would be 2 minutes to the ferry....the last ferry runs at 5:30 so we call ahead to charter a ferry ..cost is 75$..we finally arrive at the ferry dock and we head to the island..so at around 9 in the evening we are getting to the house which we should have been there at 4pm....but that is not all our luggage and coolers didn't go through so we have to find about it the next day...the lady gets upand she starts to call about our luggage and coolers ...come to find out they are in Marsh Harbour and won't be able to fetch them till about 5pm ..which means she has to charter another ferry for it will be after 5:30 before they get there so another 75$ she has to pay..
So now I am on the island of Green Turtle Cay and the sun is shinning the days are good got some sun laying out on the beach did some shopping of what little gift shops are there and terrible expensive did some brunch with some old people on the island..I did get some time by myself down at the club house about nine in the evenings so I went down there and had me a few tipsy turtles drinks..man they are sooo goood..other than that I was busy tending to the elderly man and doing thing for the lady..drove me nuts....so it is time for me to get my things together and leave the island finally I have had about enought of bordom missing my family and I want to go home...
It is Feb the 8 and I am catching the noon ferry to catch my flight at 1:55 to West Palm ...get to the very small airport on the main land and I lift my bag to put on table to be inspected and I pull my back out was in pain the rest of the trip..so any way I get the flight it is one time and I land in West Plam with lots of time to spare so I do some shopping...couple of shitrs some jewlery for myself and then what do my eyes see is a Burger King so I grab a couple of burgers and sink my teeth into something good feels like home and taste sooooo good...lol...I make my way to my gate and sit for a hour and half waiting for my flight as I am looking for gate B7 I see B6 and the B with no number so I figure it is B7 so about 4:45 the man behind me starts to talk to me asking me where I am going and I tell him Charlotte,NC from gate B7 then he so points out to me that I passed gate B7 so off I go and lord behold the plane is bording I alomost missed my flight ...close call...so now I am off to Charlotte again ...get in on time ..find my gate and then sit ...starting talking to a woman and then at 7:30 when the flight is supposed to leave they announce that the pilot didn't show up so the flight has been cancelled...fuck..I start to panic for I have not done anything like this and have no idea what to do...a few minutes later they announce that you can either stay in Charllotte and catch early morning flight or fly to Boston at 10:30 pm and from there they will shuttle us to Portland airport which is a 2 hour drive so off to the special services desk I go ...in line I start to talk to a couple that are doing the same as I and we look out for each other ...phew thank god....so instead of a 7:30 flight here I am waithing till 10:30 to leave for Boston and then a 2 hour shuttle to Portland...I finally arrive in Portland at 3 in the morning and then the couple I was talking to they offer to drive me to my hotel..as they say good bye they said see you again next year ...LOL...so instead of getting into my hotle at 10:16 I get in at 3am...Hotle manager said a guy keeps calling me so I know it is the better half and wondering where the hellI am and what happened he calls me at 6 am tell him what happened...I go back to bed for another couple of hours ..get up and start out for Bangor ..I have never driven on the turn pike befroe so I am nervous again ...I hit my first toll bridge and ask the lady if I am headed in the right direction for Bangor she tells me yup don't get off this road ...I laugh and go on my way ...so I land home about 2 inthe afternoon say hello to my hubbyand [ack for the SJ valentines dance and we are in Sj by 3..what a day...oh about my back I go to the chiropractor and my left knee,shoulder,pelvis neck and tall bone are all out so he pops me back together and I am good as new..back still a litte sore but I O.K. ...shooter called me alomost every day I was down south goood lord for the phone bill when it comes in and he has stated I am not going next year ...lol...
So that was my trip down south ..like I said I learn something new every year ...lord knows what will happen if I go next year ....LOL...
The picture that you see is a bar called Miss Emilys Blue Bee Bar...it is where you can get the local drink called the Goombay Smash and it will knock you on your ass after two of them ..also inside the bar tourists put up their bussiness cards on the wall the walls and ceiling are full and it is also the lowest place the lowest place on the island
