Let's go trick or Treating
Let's be again
Let's get some candy
And light jack-o-latern grins
Let's put on some ripped up clothing
And go as hobos just for fun
Let's get carmel apples on a stick
And candy bars by the ton
Let's make sure we bring along
Some easy to clean soap just in case
For those that don't give something sweet
Will leave on their windows a smiley face
Let's walk the streets till way past 10
Then we can tell scary stories
Of monsters, ghosts, witches, and ghouls
In all their morbid glories
And when we finally come home
To lay our heads on our pillows
We can listen to the wind moan
So eerily through the weeping willows.

HOW MOTHER'S DAY STARTED

In the early 1900's Anna M. Jarvis conceived
the idea of setting aside one day of the year on
which to pay homage to mothers.
The idea was enthusiastically received as Mrs.
Jarvis talked about it.Her own mother had died on
the second Sunday in May, 1905, so she suggested
this particular Sunday for the observance.
Woodrow Wilson, then President,signed an Act
of Congress in 1914 making the second Sunday in
May a definite time when we might all think about
mother,and express to her in the best way
possible our love.
"Live this day as your mother would have
you," Anna Jarvis urged and she suggested that
each person spend the day with his mother if she
be alive,or at least write her a letter.
The carnation was chosen as the flower of the
day---a red one to be worn for mothers still
living,and a white one for the mothers who have
died.Mother's Day was first celebrated in a
little church in Grafton,West Virginia,the town
where Anna was born.Eventually the day came into
universal observance because it found a warm
response in the hearts of people everywhere.
