Censorship & The Catch-22 Answer

The censors have been extra busy this week. Well, they’ve been extra busy with this blog. I can’t pretend to know about elsewhere.
Last night’s football posting (See: [post 144879].) grabbed their attention. Sure, it was primarily about cheerleaders and lesbian sex. But that wasn’t the problem. The problem was the mention of the website of the most popular sports cable network. (Maybe someone is brave enough to put a guess to that in the comments section. If I list it here, this post will be censored too.)
Of course, that might not have been the only problem. I also mentioned the most popular newspaper in the DC-area. (Any guesses on that publication?) Remove those two media references and voila, the post is acceptable.
Now, I’ve been around here long enough to know that was pushing the envelope. I’ve had posts denied before because I mentioned the most highly regarded paper in New York City too. But then again, I’ve had posts accepted with the same information. (See: [post 81844].) So one never really knows.
And that’s the problem. How can you encourage free expression about topics on a sex site, which should be about free expression, when the monitors don’t understand copyright law or fair use? Or they use software to make those decisions.
And on top of it, they never tell you exactly why the material was censored. The author is left to guess.
That is not the worst example. This week, I had one section of this blog’s index censored. (See: [post 10532].) It was censored twice. I couldn’t figure out why, so I sent a note to Customer Service. What could be objectionable about an index?!? Here’s what they sent back:
Unfortunately, I am unable to determine why your blog was denied, as it was removed from our system when it was denied. If you feel it was denied in error please submit it again.

That seems to be the number of the week. This blogspot nudged over the 1,000 comment marker this week. So we have more thanks to send out for helping achieve that milestone.
Of course, everyone who visits and comments gets the credit and thanks.
Fittingly, we aren’t sure whom to thank exactly for hitting the milestone, due to the technical glitches on the site. If you count The Invisible Comment which is inside Flakes, then digdug is the blogger who pushed us to the 1,000-spot. Although that comment shows up on the tally for Flakes, the overall blog counter does not include it. By the overall counter, Keith is the blogger who gets credit for comment number 1,000.
So both get special notice. This is also fitting. Keith has been a frequent commentator in this blog almost since its inception. Likely, he’s the biggest supporter of this blog (and many others) and we always appreciate his encouragement.
On the other hand, digdug is one of our newer readers who is hanging on with the changes here. He’s been welcomed here in the past few months, after Centennial Celebration Week.
When I saw this milestone approaching, I wondered if we should give out virtual prizes to the person who got us to the millennium mark. Now, I’m not too sure.
At first, I thought besitos for the women and cervezas for the men, so the title here would be: Mil Besitos! Mil Cervezas! Mil Gracias!
But that doesn’t work. To honor digdug, cerveza is not appropriate. And besitos are certainly not appropriate for the men. A prizes is something you want to win, and even some of the women here probably would not appreciate a prize of besitos from me. Then I had the thought about giving the winners a free run through The Tattler’s prize warehouse. We have a lot of ponchos and free pancake coupons piling up there because so few folks win The TATTLER. Of course, that’s no prize for The Publisher: that’s all his virtual property already.
So instead of a prize, here’s a hearty “thanks,” a pat on the back, and a promise to buy you a cup of coffee the next time you’re in town, digdug & keithcancook. I hope you and everyone else continues to come back as long as this blog is open.

You might be wondering what all the shouting is about.
As this blog slips back into boutique status, more proof of that state is evident. However, I am thankful for this condition.
Here’s what I’m talking about: I finally had an entry roll over the one thousand views marker this past week.
Now, at the top blogs, a thousand views is nothing. Some of these blogs clock 20,000 or 30,000 views on a post. (Makes you wonder what would happen to your blog if 30 times as many people would stop around and see some of your best posts. But I digress. Which if you know this blog, you know that’s a normal state of mind.)
The post that finally gathered this milestone of interest was Top Female Profile Photos Round Two. If you haven’t noticed, the photo galleries draw the most views to this blog. However, this was a slow build. That entry was posted in July. So much for those who say only the most recent posts draw attention. And more irony: only two of the profiles highlighted in that entry are still working. Just shows you how transient the virtual community can be!

Part I
My blog exploded this past weekend. That was the tipping point. I made some decisions after that.
No, this secret blog is not shutting down. Nothing that hasty.
But another change of direction is here.
Since June, this blog has shifted into weekday mode. Generally, readers could find new material here on most work days. Sometimes more often.
That is not a high rate compared to the most popular bloggers who often post several items daily. But it was a higher rate than how this blog started. Originally, this blog was conceived as somewhere to post weekly, sometimes more. And we are headed back in that direction.
The technical problems are just one of the reasons for this decision.
I decided it was no longer fun while wading through the blog this weekend. The technical glitches caused about 60 comments that I had killed since the end of July to deposit themselves back in these pages. I think I have killed them all again. These were either tests on graphics and pictures, or they were postings that had problems with content of one type or another. All of these were my comments. But when they all appeared again it was as if all the garbage you had hauled out of your home for ten weeks suddenly reappeared in your basement.
But other problems persist. There are at least a handful of comments I cannot see. This problem is not new. I have written about it before. (See: The Invisible Comment.) However, I have no way to know if these are new comments or old ones resurrected by the glitches. Usually, I respond to most comments. Not seeing these makes me wonder if some folks will think I am just being cold and not finishing conversations. I would rather not have that concern.

My search on the site has ended, so the list of prostitutes I find has shrunk accordingly. However, watchful readers have been mailing me with their reports and that has replenished our warning report.

It remains unclear whether one of the profiles in those entries is using purloined pictures or whether both profiles are suspect, but we include all of them on the questionable list for those who may have an interest, to move cautiously. MY APOLOGIES, BUT...
...this blog is not responsible for the odd technical glitches on this site!
Let me explain what I mean.
Some of you may have come looking for [post 116236], which was originally in this spot. That post is designed with three sections: one on the blog’s front page, and two sections in the comment section. However, the comments fell off that post three times before I decided to give up on it. Also, at times, the post would only take one comment; the second one would not file. So an unsuccessful attempt was made at posting with two sections. But as some of us have learned, posts with intensive graphics and instructions really need to be in multiple parts or all in one long post on the front blogpage.
In a way, this is also an experiment. Your frustrated author/editor wondered if that electronic spot on the blog was somehow damaged and perhaps moving the material elsewhere might help.
Also, your frustrated author has waited more than 19 hours for some posts to clear the censors and administrators this week. The combination of long waits and then comments that disappear after the waiting have made me consider drastic action: such as shutting the blog down altogether or going on hiatus until the technical items are fixed. These frustrations are not only centered here: comments on the discussion boards, on other blogs, and in this blog have all disappeared in the past few days.
Which calls into question the purpose of my writing here in the first place. If what I write cannot be seen or does not stay, and I am no longer using the site for anything other than written interaction, then what is the point? Perhaps others have a creative answer to that.
I am not the only blogger experiencing these difficulties. Keith and others (See: Illusionary Comments) have written about the technical problems too.
How long before these blogjams and comment viruses cease?

This is another in our occasional series* on questionable profiles.
For whatever reasons, the duplicates on this site are becoming more apparent. Normally, this item could have waited until one of the regular warning reports issued on this blog. However, sexylatina4u2c2 has been featured here too prominently for that.
sexylatina4u2c2 She has shown up in several of our photo reviews. (See: Top Female Profile Photos Round Two; Top Female Profile Photos August 2005; and Top Female Profile Photos September 2005.) Although she seemingly disappeared from the site in June, I did get a short e-mail from her once. She basically said, thanks for checking me out. That’s unusual with questionable profiles so she was not on the suspect list.
That is until the recent discovery of Alli_Baby_, all the way across the continent.

Return of the Strippers

At one time or another, some men, myself included, have fantasies about strippers. Go to a strip club and fantasies aren’t far behind. Some of us go through a strip club and stripper phase. (For more details, see: [post 20591].) Luckily, that phase is behind me. Until I had a relationship with a stripper, met her friends, and got behind the veil of secrecy that separates stripper from panting customer, I don’t think I could have ever pierced the power of that fantasy.
Which brings me back to the topic of strippers on this website.
Yes, they are here! (This blog touched on this topic originally in the entry: Strippers.) And you have to wonder: why?
From my experience, these women can have any man who walks into a club where they work. Or any man who works at that club. And considering how they often look, any man they meet.

TropicalSiren In the original entry on this topic, there was speculation that TropicalSiren might be a stripper. Her pictures, inconsistent activity on the site, and her moving prompted that speculation. (No confirmation, because she has never returned any mail to this writer.) She has just completed her second cross-continental move in the past six months: moving from Virginia to Oregon and now to New Jersey. Just another unsolved mystery.
